AE is a gold mine for finding knit tops that are soft, have nice and easy fits, and fabrics that wash well.
Two of my favorites this season are the beach fleece and Aerie real soft v-neck tee shirts. They are perfect for the weekends when I want to be comfortable while still looking cute!
The beach fleece is sold out in my navy stripe but still comes in a red stripe and tons of solid colors. I think I might pick up an extra one! I found this top to fit a little big. I wanted it to have the slouchy and casual look but not too over-sized. I sized down one size to an XS and found the look I wanted.
The real soft v-neck tee is sold out in my pink, but still comes in 6 beautiful colors. This tops fits tts. I am wearing a small. It’s the perfect blend of being a little roomy, while not being too over-sized that it looks sloppy. Aerie also introduced a similar style called the distressed v-neck boyfriend tee. The fabric and fit look similar to my tee, and it comes in different shades of pinks, plum, green called royal palm, and a grey.
It’s that time of year again….swimsuit season! I both love and hate this time of year. I love being outside and enjoying the nice weather and going to the pool and beach with the kiddos. But I also loathe having to be in a swimsuit for hours on end.
After some searching, and lots of try on sessions, I think I have found my go-to swim brand- J. Crew Factory! There are so many great things to love about their suits- great prices, good quality fabrics, stylish details and prints, and they fit me great!
I also love that the swimsuits have good coverage in the back 🙂 I need to be able to run around after the kids and I feel super comfortable in these suits. They don’t ride up and I feel like I’m adequately covered while still looking great! In my opinion, they run tts. I’m wearing a size small in all 3 suits.
Check out my new 3 suits below:

It’s another rainy day! Despite the yucky weather, I still wanted to wear some some Spring colors to brighten the day.
Navy and white stripes are one of my favorite combos. This top was extra adorable by adding feminine ruffles to a classic staple. This tee ran very small though. I sized up to a M when I normally wear an XS in Old Navy tees. Right now this tee is on major sale! Already markdown to less than $8 with an additional 30% off at checkout!
My girlfriend destructed jeans have become one of my favorite pairs of denim. They fit a little looser without looking sloppy. They are cute dressed up or dressed down. And I can get away with them at work when I pair them with a great pair of heels! Runs tts- wearing size 6 when I’m normally a 4 or 6 in denim. My pair is sold out but I’ve linked a similar style below that has a little less destruction- and they are on sale!
The color of these suede pumps is gorgeous! A beautiful dusty rose that adds a nice pop of color to an outfit without being too bright. Runs small- I sized up 1/2 size and they fit great. They are on sale now!
Four weeks till we are poolside for the first time this season! My kids are ready with their new swimwear, are yours? Of course Target came through with another win! I can’t rave enough about their swimsuits. They are my go-to each year.
The fit is great. They offer different silhouettes for girls which helps when different cuts will fit my daughter better than others. My son is on the tall and skinny side and the board shorts stay up great even when he’s jumping off the diving board.
Quality and value is top notch. I wash them in garment bags in the washer and air dry. They hold up all season. The kids out grow them before the suits start to look too worn.
I highly recommend that you head on over to Target.com and stock up for the summer. Many styles are on sale! So the kids will look adorable and you’ll know you got a great value!
Here are their favorite looks from last summer and their picks for this year:
Violette and Mason last summer at the beach
Top picks for Violette this year
Bought this one again this year with a matching cover-up and they came out with a 2nd print option. So adorable!
Also tried two new silhouettes with another cute cover-up
Modeling some of their favorite looks together!
Top picks for Mason this year (he loved all the bright colors and animal themes)
And they came back with his favorite from last year so I picked up the next size.
We are so excited to introduce you to our new feature – The Monthly Mom Spotlight!
The heart and soul of Rockstar Moms is that we believe there isn’t just one way to be an amazing mom, friend, woman, etc. We support one another and celebrate all that makes us unique and special. And by doing so, we strive to create a community where we find comfort that there are so many ways to show love and be there for the people in our lives, especially our kids.
Each month we will be featuring a Rockstar Mom and the ways they navigate motherhood and life.
Our first Rockstar Mom is Julia from Pennsylvania!
Julia is a work from home mom with two amazing girls ages 13 and 10. Liz sat down with Julia to talk about the joy she finds being with her girls, the challenges she faces trying to keep it all together, and the things she finds that help her achieve a better balance. Check out some of her favorite item picks at the end!
L: What helps you be a rockstar mom?
J: My girls are very different. I prioritize spending time with each of them and focus on the things they enjoy and make them unique. Lily and I love to drive to a local spot and enjoy smoothie bowls! Violet really likes to bake. She recently received a baking set and cookbook for her birthday. So we were adventurous and baked the chocolate cake together! I’m also lucky to have a job that allows me to have better work/home balance and flexibility with scheduling things for myself or my family. I can be at the bus stop every morning and afternoon, and can work around appointments for me and the girls. I’m focused on teaching them responsibility too. They have chores such as folding laundry and taking out the trash. It’s never too early to have them help around the house!
L: How do you balance your family with everything else?
J: I really focus on scheduling. It helps everyone stay on the same page. My girls even tell me that I remember things for them by having it on the schedule, which is great! I also love tools that allow me to be efficient and get the things done that I need to do quickly. I have the Target Red Card and use the Target app a lot. It’s so easy to use, and everything I need for the family is in one place. I’ve even used the pickup in store option which is extra convenient. I place my order ahead of time and then run in to customer service where my items are waiting for me. With the Target Red Card I always save 5% too. Can’t lose with convenience and saving $!
L: What do you do that helps you take care of yourself?
J: I have a close knit group of friends. We meet once a month and that has been a great support system for me. I also put aside time for myself to focus on my health. I joined a local gym that is small so we really support and inspire each other. I also like to give back to others. I started an organization called Mended Little Hearts Philadelphia that provides support to children and their families impacted by congenital heart disease.
L: What do you wish you were better at or want to focus on more?
J: Focusing on stopping and enjoying the moments as I’m experiencing them. I find it hard to turn off all the things going around in my head and just relax. I’m working on compartmentalizing and staying focused on what’s in front of me: family, work, or my home.

J: Here are some of my favorite items that make me feel great and that I highly recommend!
I really like Old Navy activewear. They hold up great during my workouts and are very affordable!
I love these products for my skin!
Here is the baking set and cookbook my daughter and I are really enjoying!
We hoped you’ve enjoyed reading all about Julia! Check back to see next month’s Mom Spotlight!!
Hi guys! Liz here! There aren’t many beauty products that I can say have changed my life. But dry shampoo is one that definitely makes the list.
Once you become a mom, you are just kidding yourself if you think you will have time to wash and style your hair every day. If you are a mom that is actually able to do this, then you really are a supermom!! For me, I can make time 2 days a week to wash and style my hair- please don’t judge!
I luckily have thick and wavy hair that doesn’t get too oily. But my secret to making it the 3 days in between washes, is dry shampoo!
I tested the below products over the course of 3 days to see what the pros and cons are of each, and which is my new favorite! Commission links are provided to check out the products for yourself!
How to use dry shampoo: It is very simple to apply dry shampoo. I typically use it in the morning on dry hair before I do any other styling. I first bend at the waist and tip my head over and apply some of the shampoo at the base hairline and at the hairline behind my ears (where I get more oily). I use by finger tips and rub the shampoo in- almost like when you are rubbing true shampoo into your scalp. I flip my head back up and then apply it to the roots on the top of my head. I do this by lifting sections of my hair and applying some shampoo on the scalp. I make sure I don’t put any in the section of my hair where my part shows since I don’t want any shampoo to be seen. I then use my fingers tips again to rub in the shampoo all over my scalp. Then I style as normal using my flat iron, curling iron/wand etc. You can also re-apply it if you need a pick me up later in the day or if you are re-styling your hair again at night before going out.
This item is a spray with a translucent powder. It was the only spray I tested. I was nervous as I had only used powders before. But I ended up loving it!
Easy to apply. Pointed the nozzle to the section of scalp I wanted to apply to and pressed down. Was easy to control the amount of product by doing short sprays.
For a few seconds your scalp will feel wet. But that does not last and does not ruin your hair texture or styling. It felt very cooling and soaked in well.
Increases volume, doesn’t weight down the hair, and no residual product left on the hair
Scalp felt great after applying- soaks up the oil and scalp feels refreshed and not wet. I wasn’t sure if I would love the spray since I was nervous of the product being wet at first. But it dries fast and feels great on the scalp and hair!
Similar to the powders, it is very easy to blend into your scalp using your fingertips.
Only cons are:
I’m not sure how long the bottle will last. I’ve used for a few months and it feels more empty than the powder bottles I have after using for the same amount of time
Higher price than the other options I tried. Love the product, but not sure if it’s worth the extra cost.
Here are before and after pictures using the Oribe product.
This product was a little more difficult to apply vs the Verb. It was more difficult to control how much product is released. I still applied directly on the scalp but lightly shook the bottle vs squeezing it so only a small amount of product was released. Then if I needed more, I would repeat that step.
Very easy to blend into your scalp so the powder is not noticeable
Increases volume, doesn’t weight down the hair. Is a little more coarser on the hair compared to the Verb product above.
Soaks up all the oil and the scalp feel refreshed
Middle of the road price point. Expecting bottle to last awhile like the Verb powder has.
Only con is that this product added more texture and coarseness to my hair that is already thick and coarse. It may be better suited for hair that is thinner and softer since it would provide the right amount of volume and texture.
Here are before and after pictures using the Bumble and Bumble product. This is the product with the most obvious change in volume, especially by the roots!
Left: Before Right: After
So now that I’ve gone through all the details, I can reveal my new favorite dry shampoo…..
And the winner is……VERB! For me, this product was the overall winner. It worked great on my hair and left both my scalp and hair feeling refreshed and clean. The price is very affordable! And you don’t have to use much of the product, so I think it will last a long time.
I hope you find this product review helpful!! I highly recommend trying a dry shampoo. It’s been a lifesaver for me.
I’ve been on the search for some new basic tops. You know, those perfect tees or tanks that are in a constant rotation within your wardrobe. The first item you grab when you just want to feel good and know you will look cute at the same time.
Well I found this peplum style that might be my new favorite. I love how it is a basic tee, but with a feminine twist!
The fabric is a soft, lightweight cotton. Silhouette is a classic crewneck that can be outfitted in many ways. And the peplum detail creates a flattering shape.
I liked the top so much, I ordered 3 colors! The fit runs large, so I sized down to an XS when I’m normally a S. There is also a long sleeve v-neck version in a slub cotton fabric that I added to my cart.
I was debating on which color I should return. But at 40% off, I may just keep all 3!
